The MEXT is a high performance IEM that delivers a dynamic and exciting sound through the innovative use of a bone conduction driver.

With the combination of dynamic, balanced armature, and OBC coil bone conduction drivers, MEXT can deliver sound through both air transmission and bone conduction, creating an all-round sense of space and resonance. Whether it’s single or dual sides bone conduction or the current OBC patented technology, UM is always leading in the hi-fi industry. Such techniques may be imitated, but the ultimate sound by UM cannot be surpassed.

1 OBC Driver, 1 Dynamic and 4 Balance Armature drivers

The MEXT is comprised of 1 OBC driver, 1 Dynamic and 4 Balance Armature drivers. Boasting a smooth transition and wide bandwidth, the OBC driver has a frequency response between 200Hz-7000Hz with a sensitivity peak at 400Hz. With the ssistance from the OBC driver, the MEXT’s sound packs a powerful punch and is more impactful at low frequencies. Along with the perfect performance of the combination of dynamic and balanced armature drivers, the MEXT can lend itself to be exacting and precise or smooth and gentle when the music calls for it.

OBC, a patented bone conduction system by UM

OBC, or Original Bone Conduction, is known Unique Melody's patented coil type bone conduction driver. Staring with the first generation MEST, UM was the first audio company to apply the principle of bone conduction to high-end in ear headphones. Bone conduction creates a unique sense of soundstage and bass response by bypassing the ear drum and transmitting sound through vibrations that travel through through the body to the inner-ear bones.

Ergonomic design for maximum bone conduction performance

Inside the earpiece of the MEXT, the OBC driver is set deep inside the headphone, closer to the contact area with the user's ear. This ensures the maximum performance from the bone conduction driver. The OBC driver is moderate in physical vibration and comfortable even for long hours of listening. The shape of the MEXT has been optimised for various user ear shapes to ensure a comfortable fit and the best performance from the OBC driver.

Custom Cable from PW Audio

MEXT is paired with the UM Copper M1 custom cable manufactured by PW Audio. Soft and exquisite, with matching black components to complement the MEXT's design. Using OFHC copper wires create a natural and smooth sound.

The MEXT is available in 3.5mm single ended, as well as 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced terminations.
