Cayin RU7 Discrete 1Bit USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

The RU7 features a purpose built 1-bit DAC circuit from discrete micro components, converting digital signals to analogue through a fully discrete 4-channel DAC architecture.

The 1-bit DAC circuit is a resistor network composed of 128 (4 x 32) high precision thin film resistors, closely resembling the discrete DAC of the Cayin N7.

The output of the resistor network goes through a 3 level active Low Pass Filter and is then convered to a single ended signal for volume adjustment.

To achieve 1-bit DSD decoding, Cayin has adopted high precision and temperature stable thin film resistors.

RU7 features dual headphone amplifiers in parallel, providing 4-channel high power balanced output. The dual amplifiers deliver an impressive 400 mW @ 32 ohms with 4.4mm balanced output and 160mW @ 32 Ohms with 3.5mm single ended output.

The outputs can also be configured in fixed voltage line out mode, bypassing the volume control, delivering up to 1.2Vrms with single ended 3.5mm line output and 2.4Vrms with 4.4mm balanced line out. This line out voltage is carefully selected to ensure maximum dynamic range and signal to noise ratio from the 1-bit DAC.

In order to ensure maximum quality, RU7 features a 100 step resistor network volume control with 3 segments of resistors and switching relays. This volume control gives the user flexible volume control even with the most sensitive IEMs. Please note the RU7's relays will introduce short delays in volume adjustment.

RU7 supports up to PCM 384Khz and native DSD 64/128/256. All digital audio signals will be converted to a user selected 1-bit DSD format (DSD64/DSD128/DSD256) to be passed onto the discrete 1-bit DAC circuit.

To ensure low noise performance, the RU7 features a two PCB design with digital and analogue circuits installed on seperature 6 layer PCBs. This safeguards signal integrity, making sure noise from the reference clock and DSP will not bleed into the amplification circuit.

The RU7 features an OLED display which displays playback and menu information with good visibility. A compact size and the light 25g weight makes the RU7 easy to slip into any pocket. The discrete resistor network of the RU7 has very low power consumption when compared to standard integrated DAC chipsets.

The RU7 comes included with a high quality leather custom case with inbuilt magnets. Two circular metal plates with adhesive tape are included to help you keep the RU7 attached to your favourite devices.
