The Audeze LCD-2 is a closed back variant of the very well received LCD-2 Classic. The Closed Back LCD-2 is essentially the same as the open version but with aluminum earcups that seal off the headphone, and thicker earpads. These changes have delivered an LCD-2 with strong noise isolation and reduced sound leakage. Please note that the LCD-2 Closed Back is even heavier than the LCD-2C, which should be considered when choosing a headphone for long term wearing comfort.
In terms of sound, the Closed Back version of the LCD-2 delivers a tighter, deeper and more controlled bass punch than the LCD-2C. The Closed Back also brings extra energy in the upper mids and high frequencies. This makes the closed back LCD-2 more lively and musical for jazz and acoustic tracks. With electronic and pop tracks, the additional bass can be addictive, but the energy in the upper frequencies can be fatiguing on some tracks.
It’s worth comparing both headphones side by hear to see which one works for you, so pop in for a demo, or order online with the confidence of our satisfaction guarantee!
